January 9-11 Teresa Chilkowich from our Dehcho office visited the Hay River Reserve and Fort Providence.

On the 9th of January, Teresa was able to meet with the K’atlodeeche Band Council for a brief update on AEA programs as well as stopping in to meet a few teachers at Chief Sunrise School and the Manager at the Ehdah Cho Store. The next two days, Teresa was pleased to be able to share a presentation on AEA programs at the Tri-Council meeting on the 10th. In addition to the excellent connections made with the Deh Gah G’otie First Nation, Metis & Hamlet Councils.

Teresa also made wonderful new contacts with the Community Adult Educator at Aurora College, Dene Fur Clouds, Snowshoe Inn & at the Northern Store. This included a 2 hour session with Aurora College students, where Teresa energized the students about ways they can make their homes more efficient by challenging them to make a used CFL light bulb collection can for the College and install film plastic, a door sweep and dryer vent shutter in their homes. Teresa also offered up a block heater timer for their instructor to give to one of the students whose name would be drawn from a hat once these projects were completed.
