This past week, the Arctic Energy Alliance participated in the NWT Energy Charette in Yellowknife. Invited community government leaders, representatives from Aboriginal development corporations, involved citizens, federal and GNWT personnel, and experts in the field of energy from across the North were brought together to discuss key energy issues and actions that the GNWT should consider for inclusion in the 2013 Energy Plan.

It was a full 3 days of exploring, learning, group discussions and sharing that cumulated in presenting the director of Energy Planning with the prioritization of different objectives that we felt the GNWT should follow while developing the 2013 Energy Plan.

We applaud the GNWT for their forward thinking and inclusion of members from various sectors of the NWT and are optimistic that they will take the suggestions from the charette and will incorporate them into an energy plan that is representative of the views and issues that were discussed.
