The Norman Wells Energy Fair took place January 17th to 19th, 2013. Local residents came out to see displays on new heating technologies, use of biomass heating (wood, wood pellets and wood chips), and learn new ways to conserve energy, sample snacks and enter the draws.

There were many great networking opportunities between businesses, government, resource organizations and Norman Wells residents. Two local Norman Wells vendors, Global Technical Systems and Whiponic Wellputers, presented information on their business and displayed high efficiency heating equipment. Some presenters traveled a long way to take part in the Energy Fair. La Crete Sawmills traveled from La Crete, Alberta and Fink Machines journeyed up from Enderby, BC.

Arctic Energy Alliance representatives, Steve Outlet and Linda Todd (Yellowknife office) and Wayne Lennie (Sahtu Office, Norman Wells) were in attendance. The NWT Power Corporation, NWT Housing Corporation and the GNWT Department of Environment and Natural Resources all had information displays and gave generous support to the Energy Fair, as did the Town of Norman Wells.
