On February 14th, 2013, AEA Dehcho Regional Energy Project Coordinator, Teresa Chilkowich organized a presentation by two guest speakers for students at Thomas Simpson High School in Fort Simpson.  Guest speakers shared information on the additional Solar Photovoltaic (PV) array that was recently added to the 60.6 kW system at the Fort Simpson airport. This information session was offered to students in Mr. Broomfield’s Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneurship Program and Mr. Benoit’s Carpentry class. Guest speakers were Jeff Smalley, a Solar PV Technician with SkyFire Energy (Calgary) and Troy Bradbury, an Electrician with Kiwi Electric (Fort Simpson).

Click here for the NTPC site for monitoring the electricity production of the first PV array and see the amount of energy being created by these solar panels and equivalent carbon offsets.
