On Saturday, May 18th, three Arctic Energy Alliance (AEA) employees participated in the Polar Bear Dip to raise money for the Special Olympics. Our team was called the “Thermal Banditos” and we were decked out in Mexican wrestling masks which were actually a great benefit as they had a little bit of foam padding that protected our heads from sudden heat loss as we dived in.

John was there to take some thermal images of the three of us before & after “the dip” to illustrate the rapid change in our surface body temperatures and was invited up to the microphone to describe the results of our “dip”.

Our AEA team was awarded the best overall team participation plaque that is to be proudly displayed in our reception area until next year when we will need to return to defend our honour! Overall, the day raised about $15,000 for the Special Olympics.

The pictures show the before and after thermal images of our 3 brave AEA employees Austin Tokarek, Ken Baigent, and Nick Walker.
