The trip from Dawson City brought us through Whitehorse where we met with a lot of talented folks. There was a lot of great learning and potential partnering opportunities with our neighbouring territory. We were most impressed with the made-in-the-North, work-in-the-North solutions to their energy challenges.

The Yukon Housing Corporation talked about their housing accomplishments and issues. They are pretty far advanced in terms of monitoring their newer systems and we were interested to find out that they are using heat recovery ventilators (HRVs) in all of their new units. The folks at the Energy Solutions Center are doing great work on policy and we have much to learn from their new micro-generation policy and their initiatives in costing versus energy savings with different housing construction techniques. The Cold Climate Innovation Group at the Yukon Research Centre wowed us with their data center and monitoring capabilities. We look forward to continuing to learn from these talented neighbours.
