Arctic Energy Alliance (AEA) is pleased to announce new Energy Efficiency Incentive Program (EEIP) rebates effective May 1st, 2014. The EEIP program is funded by the Government of the Northwest Territories Environment and Natural Resources Department and administered by AEA.

We are pleased that LED light bulbs and propane clothes dryers have now been added to the list of rebates. LED light bulbs use approximately 25% of the energy required for incandescents and last up to 25 times longer. Using propane dryers in communities that produce their electricity with diesel generators will save the cost of electricity and reduce greenhouse gas generation.

Other changes to the program include requiring that applications are received within 3 months of the date on the receipt where previously it was 1 year. The rebate for wood stoves and pellet stoves is now 1/3 of the cost to a maximum of $700 / unit. The rebate for furnaces and boilers is now $600 for all types that meet the required efficiency. The rebate for drain water heat recovery units has also been increased to $300.
