Two staff from the Arctic Energy Alliance (AEA) travelled to Lutsel K’e last week to work with the community on two different projects. One is a solar PV project. The Lutsel K’e Dene First Nation is partnering with AEA and other groups to install a large solar photovoltaic array in the community. Still in the early stages, this is anticipated to be a 35 kW installation.

AEA was also there to conduct energy audits on a number of community buildings. The energy audits are part of a project with Lutsel K’e and the NWT Association of Communities. We expect to visit a total of 10 communities in the coming months to perform more energy audits. Based on the results of these energy audits AEA is looking forward to working with community governments on specific, practical ways to save on their energy costs.
