The Northwest Territories Association of Communities (NWTAC) held its 48th Annual General Meeting in Inuvik May 8 – 11, 2014.  Arctic Energy Alliance (AEA) representatives were in attendance.  Highlights of the meeting included presentations by territorial and federal political leaders as well as the adoption of resolutions on Community Funding, Homelessness, Hazardous Waste in Municipal Landfills, Fees for Households in the General Taxation Area and Vehicle Mechanics and Maintenance.  In addition, there were a number of presentations and discussions on key issues facing community governments including governance, funding, infrastructure and economic development.

The NWTAC was created in 1966 and is an important voice for communities in the NWT through their elected officials.  With Lutsel K’e becoming a member community this year, the NWTAC now has representation from all 33 NWT communities.

AEA made a donation to the silent auction of items to help reduce energy use in a home.
