Great Bear Lake was still covered with ice in early June when Nick Walker from the Arctic Energy Alliance traveled to the community of Deline to do energy audits on 4 community buildings and to work with community staff on reducing the energy costs of those buildings. These audits are part of a project with the NWT Association of Communities.

While there he also visited the Great Bear Co-op to see the technologies they’ve implemented to lower their electricity bills such as LED lights and a free air cooling system for the freezer.
