On May 28 & 29, Arctic Energy Alliance (AEA) staff attended the Fort McPherson Biomass Project stakeholders meeting  in the community to discuss the current status of the project and plan for the upcoming steps.

The new containerized KOB Pyromat biomass boiler provides heat to the Health Centre and the Band Office and has been operating for one heating season using a mixture of wood pellets and cord wood. This fall the plan is to burn wood chips made from local willows.

There was also a training session for operation and maintenance of the boiler on May 30 put on by the boiler supplier, Fink Machine.

For more information on this project, please view the videos produced by AEA under the "Wood Chip Heating Systems" tab.
