Ken Baigent, Energy Management Specialist from the Arctic Energy Alliance’s (AEA’s) Yellowknife Office, was in Norman Wells to help Wayne Lennie, AEA’s Sahtu Regional Energy Project Coordinator, promote the solar demonstration trailer. Ken and Wayne were invited to do a presentation to the Sahtu Economic Development Officers Workshop held in Norman Wells the week of September 8th. This workshop was sponsored by Industry, Trades, and Investment of the Government of the Northwest Territories. The solar demonstration unit was shown outside of the Legion during the lunch break where a lot of questions were asked. This demonstration brought other members of the community who were also interested in learning more about solar energy.

During the afternoon, a local contractor, Harold Harris, borrowed the trailer to use as a power source for a job he was working on at McKinnon Territorial Park. The power source could run most construction tools, up to 1000 watts, without any problem and he also used it to charge the battery packs for the tools that required more wattage on start up.
