Arctic Energy Alliance (AEA) staff, Yichao Chen and Margaret Mahon, conducted a site visit at the Big River Service Center located just outside Fort Providence on Oct 2nd and 3rd, 2014. This site visit is part of the Detailed Energy Audit on the three buildings at the Big River Service Center, funded under the Commercial Energy Conservation and Efficiency Program (CECEP). A preliminary Yardstick Energy Audit based on utility bills was already carried out prior to the site visit.  The service center is currently looking at a range of potential energy retrofit options to lower its energy costs, and this detailed energy audit aims to facilitate the decision making on cost effective energy efficiency measures.

AEA staff also met with the SAO of Fort Providence, Ms. Susan Christie, following up on a recent energy audit on community buildings in collaboration with the Hamlet of Fort Providence and the NWT Association of Communities. Based on the results of these audits AEA is looking forward to working with community governments on specific, practical ways to save on their energy costs.
