Sheena Adams, Arctic Energy Alliance’s Inuvik Regional Energy Project Coordinator, recently had a short trip to Fort McPherson.   While there she visited their biomass boiler.  Johnny Kay keeps the Tetlit Gwich’in Council and Fort McPherson Health Centre building warm with firewood in the shared biomass boiler (shown in picture).  The boiler which can burn pellets, firewood or woodchips provides renewable energy to both buildings.  The boiler can change and adapt to its fuel source with the simple press of a button on the boilers dedicated computer. The temperature was a cool, -36 Celcius, that day and the boiler kept the buildings and staff comfortably warm.
