Sheena Adams, Arctic Energy Alliance’s Inuvik Regional Energy Project Coordinator, recently visited Whitehorse, YT to learn about the energy saving programs and initiatives being offered in the Yukon Territory. She visited with Yukon Energy, Yukon Conservation Society, and the Yukon’s Climate Change Secretariat, where lots of information was shared.

A highlight of the trip was a tour of a home built by Forest Pearson that has a targeted EnerGuide rating of 87, which will be one of the highest energy ratings in the YT. With loads of good insulation, thick walls and 3 and 4 panes of glass in the windows, it is expected that this home will cost less than $300.00 a year to heat.

Sheena thanks everyone in Whitehorse for the inspiration, information, tours, hospitality and hot chocolate. The picture shows the new energy efficient home being built in Whitehorse, YT.
