2016-17 was quite a year for the Arctic Energy Alliance. Here are just a few of the highlights:

  • We distributed more than 1,800 rebates and other incentives, worth more than $1 million.
  • Combined, all of the projects we were involved in saved the NWT more than twice the electricity used by community of Wekweeti in a year.
  • Those same projects reduced the NWT’s greenhouse gas emissions by an amount equivalent to taking 342,000 litres of diesel fuel out of the system.
  • From our LED swap-out project alone, we swapped out nearly 12,000 residential light bulbs, upgraded the lighting in 55 non-residential buildings and helped participants save more electricity combined than the community of Tsiigehtchic uses in a year.
  • We evaluated 200 homes in the NWT and Nunavut to help their owners increase their energy efficiency and reduce their bills.
  • We worked with Inuvialuit elders and translators in to strengthen the Inuvialuktun language by developing new energy-related terminology.
