On October 3 and 4, Sheena Adams, our Beaufort-Delta Regional Energy Project Coordinator, represented the AEA at the Community Healthy Living Fair in Tsiigehtchic.

The Government of the Northwest Territories hosts the fairs across the NWT in the fall and winter, in partnership with the communities. They are designed to raise awareness of healthy living, focus on community wellness and expand health networks.

Sheena spoke with residents about all sorts of energy-related questions. She also donated a set of LED Christmas lights to the community prize table. Christmas is coming up soon, and LED lights can save a lot of energy—and money—compared to older incandescent lights.

The highlight was the “Strengthening Partnerships” day, where community members took the presenters out on the land to teach them about traditional trapping, preparing and cooking fish, and sewing. They even had a wonderful moose soup for everyone to enjoy.

Thanks to everyone who made the Community Healthy Living Fair in Tsiigehtchic such a great time. We’re looking forward to attending more fairs throughout the NWT in the coming months.
