The Centre for Indigenous Environmental Resources (CIER) and its partners, which includes the Arctic Energy Alliance, are looking for participants for its Energy Literacy and Language in the NWT workshop - Shining Lights. If interested we encourage you to register as it will be a very enlightening experience both to share your knowledge and to gain from others. Accepted registration is on a first-come, first-served basis so register now to join us December 3-5 in Yellowknife.

What is the project about?

Increased energy literacy is critical for diesel-dependent indigenous communities in the NWT to reduce their long-term reliance on diesel. Energy literacy of indigenous women and youth increases the likelihood that community members will make the best possible individual or household-level energy choices, and builds their leadership capacity to participate in long-term community-wide energy planning and decision making. This project focuses on increasing foundational knowledge of energy and energy use and creates indigenous language translations of key energy terminology.
