Over the past year, AEA staff have had many opportunities to attend Community Healthy Living Fairs around the territory. Since mid-February, we attended fairs in Katl’odeeche, Sambaa K’e, Fort Resolution and Ndilo/Dettah.
It was great for staff to re-connect (and make new connections) with community members—to help people learn how to save energy and money and to hear the success stories of people who have already made energy-efficiency changes.
As always, the “Strengthening Partnerships” day was the highlight of each visit. We got to take part in some fantastic cultural activities with community members, such as taking short trips out on the land and learning to make traditional arts and crafts.
As you may have seen from our blog posts, we were also fortunate to be able to take part in Community Healthy Living Fairs in other communities in the fall and earlier in the winter. In addition to the communities listed above, we visited Fort McPherson, Tsiigehtchic, Kakisa, Lutselk K’e, Jean Marie River and Nahanni Butte between October and January and got to speak with a lot of fantastic people about energy efficiency.
Mahsi cho to the GNWT Department of Health and Social Services and to all of the people in the communities who made these fairs happen. We look forward to doing them again in the future.
