Check out our latest annual report to see what the AEA has been up to over the past year. Here are some of the highlights:
- We provided 1,437 total rebates and other incentives, worth $630,000.
- The clients we worked with will annually save:
- 460 tonnes of greenhouse gases—equivalent to eliminating the greenhouse gases produced from driving a passenger car 1.7 million kilometers.
- 4,300 GJ worth of oil, propane and gasoline—equivalent to 110,000 L of heating oil (5,500 20-L jerry cans), or 130,000 L of gasoline (6,300 20-L jerry cans)
- 270 MWh of electricity—equivalent to approximately 85% of the electricity consumed each year in the community of Jean Marie River
- $280,000 in energy costs
- The Beaufort–Delta, Sahtú and Dehcho regions all outpaced the North Slave region in the total number of rebates—the first year the Dehcho region has surpassed the North Slave (under our Energy Efficiency Incentive Program). We gave out 471 rebates in the Beaufort–Delta, 395in the Sahtú, 259 in the Dehcho and 183 in the North Slave.
- We gave out 22 rebates on electric transportation. The vehicles rebated under this program will save an estimated 14,000 L of gasoline and 33 tonnes of greenhouse gases a year.
- We hosted a Chainsaw Operator course, small-business seminar and Burn-it-Smart workshop in Norman Wells, and produced a supplemental booklet. The goal was to increase awareness of how to properly use high-efficiency wood stoves, increase firewood harvesting capacity and knowledge of running a firewood-related small business, and ultimately to help community members use their stoves more often.
