The Arctic Energy Alliance is looking to partner with NWT communities that want to develop and implement their community energy plans (CEP).
This is a six-month project that begins September 23, 2024 and ends March 22, 2025.
The AEA has funding to support the community partner to hire a local Energy Champion. There is a need for in-kind support from the community partner for the duration of the project.
The purpose of the AEA’s Community Energy Planning Project is to build community capacity and energy literacy to support and facilitate the local community energy planning process.
This will include working with the community partner to:
- Hire and mentor a local Community Energy Champion;
- Work together to develop and complete an in-depth community engagement process to draft the CEP;
- Identify an implementation plan that reflects the community’s vision and goals under the CEP and reduces local reliance on fossil fuels for electricity and heating;
- Source potential funding and resources to implement the plan; and
- Mentor other NWT communities engaged in the CEP process in the future.
